Level three books help in developing fluency in Hindi for children who are relatively comfortable with Hindi script and vocabulary and need practice to maintain and improve their skills. Each story in these books consists of an interesting story line with a good mix of new and repetitive phrases. On each facing pair of pages, the top of the left page lists the Hindi paragraph that narrates the story. The bottom of the left page has the transliteration of the paragraph in English. If the transliterated paragraph is read in conversational English, the pronunciation would be similar to the one in Hindi. The right page translates the paragraph in English. These level three books deal with the life of Sonu, an Indian kid growing up in the United States.

Sonu's Stories

This book consists of three stories. In the first story, Sonu ka Sikka, Sonu loses the coin he was playing with. The coin has quite a few adventures of its own before it returns to Sonu. In the second story, Sonu ki Macchali, Sonu tries to find a suitable pet when visiting a zoo. After ruling out many different animals, Sonu ends up with a fish. In the third story, Sonu ki Bahan, Sonu has to go through some cajoling to get his sister to come out and play with him.

Sonu's Adventures

The second level three book has three additional tales in the life of Sonu. In the first story, Sonu ka Bagicha, Sonu has to decide on which flowers to plant in his garden. After rejecting many common choices, he finally settles on the perfect flower to his liking. In the second story, Sonu ki Gaind, Sonu's ball gets stuck in a gutter outside his house. Everyone tries to help Sonu, but in the end it is the ingenuity of the kid himself which helps him retrieve the ball. In the third story, Sonu ka Safar, Sonu tries to walk over to his friend's place for a sleep-over, and meets quite a few hurdles on his way.

Sonu's Festival

The third level three book has three stories describing how different Indian festivals are celebrated from the viewpoint of an Indian kid growing up in America. In the first story, Sonu ki Diwali, Sonu tries hard to help out in the Diwali celebration but he messes up everyone else. In the second story, Sonu ki Holi, Sonu has a hard time making up with a kid he has fought with, until he learns the real meaning of Holi. In the third story, Sonu ki Rakhi, Sonu has a quarrel with his sister during Rakhi, but they mend fences after Sonu proves himself as a capable big brother by saving his sister from a vicious dog.
